The Strathcona County Museum and Archives is a non-profit organization operated by the Strathcona County Heritage Foundation board since 1986 and funded through an agreement with Strathcona County. Since 1995, the Museum has been housed at Sherwood Parks first fire hall.
In mid-2023 Reimagine Architects were engaged to work collaboratively with Strathcona County Cultural Services administration and the Strathcona County Museum and Archives board and staff to develop a Feasibility Study to help the County determine the vision, scope, cost benefits to the County and community and when a new Museum and archive can be realized. The final study will be presented to Council in Q1 2024.
Focus Groups
Focus groups were held in October and November 2023. The feedback will be included in the What We Heard report that will help inform aspects of this study and will be shared with those that sign up for project updates and publicly when the report is published.
Survey
A Strathcona County Museum and Archives was available to all members of the public from September 21 - October 12, 2023. The survey will help inform all components of the project, and feedback will be used to analyze building requirements and interpretive themes.
