Strathcona County has a shared responsibility with other Canadian municipalities to foster equality for all citizens. We are actively working to develop policies, programs and strategies in taking meaningful action toward eliminating racism and discrimination.

We are also taking steps to make our organization inclusive, as evidence shows that workplaces with a diverse workforce and inclusive practices reap tangible business benefits, including greater productivity, innovation and employee engagement.

Planning and policies

Strathcona County has several ongoing initiatives intended to build greater diversity and inclusion within the organization and community, including the recently adopted Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Inclusive Hiring Policy.

  • Strathcona County’s Diversity and Inclusion Policy outlines considerations to be taken by the county as it develops and implements initiatives. The policy was passed on May 12, 2020 and will be reviewed in 2025.
  • Strathcona County’s Inclusive Hiring Policy guides the county’s staffing guidelines and hiring practices toward attracting a diverse, engaged and talented workforce. The policy was passed on May 12, 2020.
