Strathcona County maintains 1,300 km of rural roads and ditches and 418 km of urban roads in Sherwood Park. The goal is to ensure safe and quality transportation infrastructure throughout urban and rural areas.

Construction season includes a range of improvements* to residential areas, arterial roads, rural grid roads and gravel roads, sidewalks, trails and open spaces. The majority of work is completed between May and October.

How we communicate

  • When construction occurs directly next to personal property, on-site signage is placed and direct information is delivered to homeowners. This can include notice letters about different phases of work and what to expect.
  • Communication to residents about construction season in general includes the County website, the Sherwood Park News and social media.
  • Digital message boards are used to inform motorists of impacts on arterial roads and collector roads.

Effective communication ensures residents understand the construction impacts, protects the safety of motorists and workers, and supports the work to be done in a timely manner.

The purpose of this survey is to gather resident feedback on the County's communication approach for 2024 construction projects. Your feedback will help us understand where things are working well and where we can improve.
