Strathcona County understands the challenges excessive rainfall has posed for the agricultural community this growing season. County staff have been actively engaging with local farmers, agricultural producers, agronomists, and neighbouring municipalities, while also conducting our own crop and field condition assessments.
At this time, Strathcona County has not declared an agricultural disaster. Given the varying conditions across the county, we will continue monitoring crop conditions throughout August to better understand the extent and severity of impacts in different areas of our dynamic landscape. As additional information and feedback from producers becomes available, we will reassess the situation and develop recommendations that are evidence-based, informed by local conditions, and meaningful to those affected.
