Community involvement

Results from the Annual Policing Priorities survey (fielded January 12 - February 1, 2026) helped inform policing priorities in Strathcona County for 2026-2027. The County heard from 1,295 respondents - the most respondents since the survey began five years ago!

In addition to the survey results, the policing priorities were shaped through community conversations, policing statistics, crime trends and partner input.

The 2026-2027 Strathcona County RCMP Annual Policing Priorities were presented to Council on April 28, 2026.

Following the presentation, Council approved the following 2026/2027 Strathcona County RCMP Annual Policing Priorities:

  1. Property crime
  2. Family violence and persons crime
  3. Traffic safety and impaired driving
  4. Drug enforcement

Overview

By collaborating with the community on priorities and planning, RCMP and Enforcement Services is better able to support community safety, resiliency and overall well-being while reducing crime and other harmful social impacts.

RCMP and Enforcement Services work together to ensure Strathcona County is a safe community to live, work and play. They are integrated in the overall responsibility for public safety, law enforcement, evidence gathering, support for victims of crime, traffic enforcement, and education and public awareness through community policing.

Together, they are committed to preserving the peace, upholding the law and providing quality service in partnership with the community.
