Keep the budget increase as small as possible to minimize tax increases.

Request for New Park and Enhanced Facilities in Sherwood Park for families

Sherwood Park is a beautiful county with many good features, but I am a bit disappointed that we only have one major playground and park, Broadmoor Park. As a family with three kids and based on my interactions with many families, I would love to see a park close to rural Strathcona with nature, picnic sites, playgrounds, and accessible trails.

Plebiscite Big Ticket Items

Council should put high capital expenditures to a vote directly to the tax payer who will be footing the bill. Edmonton has gone bankrupt and raised taxes almost 9% because of their reckless spending. This county should not go down that path. We are in a recession and the Federal Gov is overtaxing us enough, without 5% property tax increases year after year.

Climate change -- preparation and response.

We are not doing enough to mitigate emissions by the County directly and to support citizens in taking action on climate change. A stronger set of actions on mitigation and preparation is required.

Additional/Increased Support for Non-Profit Community Groups Delivering Essential and Non-Essential Services

Greater support for non-profit, not-for-profit community groups who deliver services to the broader community, specially social, art and culture, heritage, seniors, economic and financial advising services. The County has some great community groups, who deliver essential services to county citizens, but are struggling due to the decline in volunteers, provincial/federal grants, and unfortunately AGCL opportunities are limited and small earnings. Additional focus and county support for these community groups (not just dollars, but partnership programs, providing space to operate, etc.) will allow these groups to re-direct their primary focus from fundraising to delivering programming, resulting in a provide huge benefit to citizens.
